By attending the interestingly organized conference by our Turkish partners, we continued to build partnerships, share cultures and prove that the language of play is universal. The theme of the conference was dedicated to the importance of traditional games as a means of mental well-being, social inclusion and intergenerational dialogue. It was an important opportunity for all of us to share experiences, exchange ideas with European partners and contribute to building a network that promotes games and sports as tools for development and active participation. Traditional games prove once again that they are a valuable resource capable of uniting culture, education and social innovation. We thank all partners and participants for this day full of exchange of experiences and cooperation.
GAMES in Kirklareli – Turkey
The international project C-GAMES – Traditional Games for Body, Mind and Soul, brought together for the third time /from 13 to 15.06/ all partners – Biomreža Association – Bulgaria; UISP Sassari – Sardinia and Kırklareli İl Özel İdaresi – Turkey. This time in the city of Kırklareli, Turkey. Through traditional games, group activities and moments of intercultural exchange, we shared experiences and good practices that show how play can be an exceptional tool for inclusion, learning and well-being for people of all ages. Citizens, families, children and professionals in these activities participated in the activities. The cooperation once again confirmed the educational and social value of traditional games as a common heritage that deserves to be rediscovered and preserved. For all of us, this is also an important opportunity to exchange experience with European organizations working in the field of sport, non-formal education and the promotion of an active lifestyle.
Games and seminar in Sassari, Sardinia – Italy. May 3-4, 2026.
Sassari welcomed the “Mind Games” event, organized by the UISP Territorial Committee of Sassari within the framework of the European project C-GAMES – Centenary Games and co-financed by the European Union. The initiative took place on 3 and 4 May 2026 and represents one of the key moments in the project dedicated to the promotion of traditional games as an educational, cultural and social tool. The project brings together partners from Italy, Bulgaria and Turkey with the aim of preserving and promoting the traditional gaming heritage as an educational and inclusive resource. By collecting and sharing games from the past, the aim is to highlight their value for the cognitive, social and physical development of people, while promoting intercultural dialogue between the participating countries. Last September, the delegation from Sassari took part in meetings to exchange experiences and in-depth discussions on traditional games and their educational and inclusive value in Varna, Bulgaria. This experience was an important opportunity for intercultural exchange and sharing of good practices between the countries involved in the project. The main day of the event was May 3rd. It took place in the City Gardens on Tavolara Street, from 10:00 to 15:00, with activities open to citizens, families, schools and sports organizations. During the day, participants rediscovered and tried out traditional and street games adapted to the modern context to stimulate memory, concentration, communication and active participation. On May 4th, a seminar entitled “Ancient Games for Modern Minds” was held at Punto Luce on King Street, in the Latte Dolce district, from 10:00. The meeting focused on educational professionals, sports instructors, teachers and local stakeholders and examined the role of traditional games in children’s cognitive development, active aging and the preservation of cultural heritage. The meeting ended with a workshop, during which participants worked in groups and received valuable communication that showed concrete ways to use traditional games in school, sports and family environments. Everyone received applicable and sustainable suggestions that can be implemented at the local level.
C-GAMES FOR THE MIND
UPCOMING! May 1-4, 2026 This three-day event is dedicated to intellectual challenges and logical thinking through traditional games from the past. The program transforms the urban space into an arena for 12 exciting outdoor tests, which include 6 authentic local games from Sardinia and 3 each from the Bulgarian and Turkish partners. Here the emphasis is on intellectual competition and strategic thinking. Each participant receives a competition number to join the organized mind race, where the speed of thought and logical handling of the challenges are assessed. The organization is led by a moderator on a central stage, and the flow of participants is managed through two specialized registration areas at the entrance and exit. The program is complemented by intellectual quizzes and games focused on the knowledge of each partner country, with the best strategists receiving special prizes. This format proves that knowledge and mental strategies are the basis of any great fun. EXPECT!
Games as a bridge between generations
If you are looking for a place to take your child and have fun together. And then play the games and organize fun for the whole family, come to the exhibition “100-year-old games” in Varna. You will feel the spirit of traditions and family memories. In the lobby of the Festival and Congress Center – Varna, from October 31 to November 8, 2025, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the world of games from the past through an exhibition. The initiative is part of the C-GAMES / 100-year-old Games project, implemented with the support of Erasmus+ Sport 2024 and funded by the European Union. The exhibition presents 42 posters that trace the development of games as part of the cultural heritage of different peoples. Among them are: popular games from the late 19th and early 20th centuries; favorite children’s entertainment from the 50s, 60s and 70s of the 20th century; traditional Bulgarian games, as well as six Turkish and six Italian games, provided by the international partners of the project – Lozengrad Regional Administration (Turkey) and the Italian Association “Sport for All” – Regional Committee Sardinia. The exhibition is part of the series of initiatives of the C-GAMES project, which promote the game as a form of physical activity, family communication and cultural exchange. It follows the successful holding of the Day of Outdoor Games (September 27, 2025, the meadow next to the Sea Casino) and the conference “Games as Cultural Heritage” in the Yunashki Salon. C-GAMES – 100-year-old games came to life in Varna! On September 27, families in Varna had the opportunity to experience 12 traditional games, some of which have been played since the end of the 19th century. The day was launched with a press conference, setting the tone for a highly emotional event. The event took place with international participation from our partners from Türkiye and Sardinia within the C-GAMES – 100-year-old games project. As part of it, we welcomed 6 Turkish and 6 Italian families, as well as representatives of partner organizations – the Kırklareli Provincial Administration (Türkiye) and the Italian “Sport for All” Association with its regional committee from Sardinia. The lawns between the Shell and the Sea Casino in Varna were filled with excitement, laughter, and smiles as participants engaged in games that connect generations and carry the spirit of community.

The program is further enhanced by family quizzes and interactive games focused on the history of family traditions, with special prizes awarded to the most united teams. This format demonstrates that games and laughter remain the shortest path to the heart of every family.
